I am seeking a seriously challenging position as a senior development
manager leading engineering teams of cutting-edge software. I enjoy
working in an environment where I can apply my technical leadership
and execution skills.
I have over 18 years of software engineering experience - 13 years in
management and 5 years in individual contributor roles. Over this
period I developed the following key strengths:
- Extensive experience in all aspects of the software development
life cycle: requirement-gathering, analysis, design,
implementation, roll-out and maintenance.
- Problem-solving leader who thinks logically, focuses on
identifying needs and goals, and providing solutions to meet
specified objectives.
- Deep expertise in building real-time, high-availability,
high-volume applications (with special experience in
banking/financial applications).
- Expert in leading the design and implementation of complex,
large-scale solutions with emphasis on fast installation,
centrally driven configuration, replication,
automation of the build/packaging and release process.
- Exceptional ability to motivate others and help provide a
productive development environment.
- Excel in team building, solution brainstorming,
collaboration and decision making.
- Strong sense of project ownership and attention to detail.
- Stamina and motivation to follow-through on highly visible and
long-lasting development efforts.
- Talent for trouble shooting projects which run off-track (for
example badly scoped projects, inexperienced personnel,
technical challenges).
- High level of focus on building solutions that fit the business
and customer needs.
- Flair for entrepreneurship: As a co-founder of Coxbit GmbH, I
gained experience in starting and running a software
consulting company.
- Breaking new grounds: Worked on innovative solutions like
the very first uptake of the smart card as a debit card in
Switzerland.
- International experience: held positions in Europe and the USA;
lead teams in Europe, USA and Asia; multilingual (German,
English, French).

Leading a software development management team for Oracle internal
infrastructure projects. My key contributions were/are:
- Driving multiple development teams to gather the
requirements for the next generation of Oracle Applications
(Fusion), perform resource planning, design and implementation.
Our goal is to increase the productivity of the Oracle Applications
development teams by performing more frequent builds and
by providing up-to-date Oracle Applications instances.
- Steering a critical project that was behind
schedule and staffed with professionals, who did not
provide the needed domain knowledge. My tasks included
redefining the scope, guiding the development team with
technical expertise, resolving performance issues,
integration work with other development groups, and coordination
of the division-wide roll-out.
- Collaborating in a virtual team with most of the engineers
located oversees (India and Europe). My ability to effectively
engage individuals from different teams and timezones was recognized
with the promotion to a senior development manager.
June 2005 – January 2006
Managing a development team for an Oracle internal application
that performs code compliance checks for the complete Oracle
Applications code base. Whenever a Oracle Applications developer
creates a patch for the Oracle Applications source code, the code
compliance checker verifies that the code adheres to the coding,
file location, security, memory usage and performance standards
within Oracle. My main accomplishments were:
- Transition a development team of eight directly reporting engineers
into a new organization, accompanied with taking
ownership of a different product, changing the development environment
(Java to Perl, extensive use of PL/SQL, RCS to ClearCase),
adapting to new development processes, etc. I was
able to successfully complete this transition without any
turnover in my team (Other groups showed a 20% attrition rate).
- Managed an engineering team located in India.
- Lead the design and development to integrate the compliance
checker into Oracle's source control system.
- Guided the development of a framework to check the
code compliance for XML based files.
- Lead the implementation of many backlogged standards.
August 2002 – May 2005
Managing the development of the Oracle Applications
products (RapidInstall - tool to install Oracle
Applications 11
i; RapidClone - tool to clone Oracle
Applications 11
i instances; AutoConfig - tool
to configure Oracle Applications 11
i). Major achievements include:
- Together with my manager, I built up an offshore development
team in India from scratch. In my role as a development manager, I
trained, managed and constrained all eight direct reports.
- Lead development efforts to make these products ready for production release.
- Managed major development enhancements to these products.
- Extensively assisted important Oracle customers in their
upgrade, uptake and install initiatives. Discussed
implementation strategies with customers, performed
gap-analysis, drove quick turnarounds for their specific
requirements, trouble-shooting of technical difficulties
and lead the development for fixing defects.
- Author and co-author of white papers and technical
documentations which are published to Oracle Applications
customers.
- Very active contribution to an Oracle internal mailing
list which is used by consultants to discuss customer
specific questions with regards to installation,
configuration, cloning and upgrade efforts.
- Built customer relationships at round-table discussions
at AppsWorld and Open Oracle World conferences.
May 2001 – July 2002
Lead the integration of the iAS 1.0.2.2 middleware software
into Oracle Applications on all PLE (Product Line Engineering)
platforms.
